The latest discussion from the Urban Lunch Talk series, organised by Driving Urban Transitions features Tim Jones, Professor of Sustainable Urban Mobility at Oxford Brookes University from Enact15mC Oxford Urban Living Lab. The panel moderated by Jennifer Wendelius (DUT) alongside other spekars; Anna Seravalli (Malmö University), Annika Lundkvist (The Schumacher Institute) and Sean Bradley (Groundwork London).

East Oxford’s Urban History
Jones shared, “East Oxford has a rich and complex history. Through our workshops, we will invite people to reflect on the social fabric of the neighbourhood—who lives here, why they live here, and how this has evolved over time. For example, the rent strikes of the 1930s are a key historical reference point. We’ll look at streets and their patterns and why they are designed as they are, and what this may hold for the future activity in the neighbourhood.”

Urban Exploration with AR and VR
“We are introducing Augmented and Virtual Reality experiences, allowing participants to explore the neighbourhood through digital tools like smartphones or tablets, enabling them to walk through their neighbourhood in a completely new way.”

Looking Ahead
Through genuine engagement, Oxford ULL is ensuring that local residents have a voice in shaping the future of their neighbourhood.
