ENACT 15mC Kickoff Meeting

We had a wonderful time spending 5-hours with nearly 50 online participants at the ENACT 15mC project kickoff meeting on February 15, 2024 🎆 📣 . The kickoff began with a speech from Elena Simion, representing Driving Urban Transitions Partnership, congratulating the consortium on the successful start of the project and inviting everyone to the DUT conference in Brussels in later 2024. After a brief introduction to the project and its four Urban Living Labs, three sessions were held featuring multi-stakeholder co-creation, involving the public sector, private sector, and academia, focusing on people-centric 15mC. Following a lunch break, we had a learning session on new technologies like AR/VR and detailed 3D city modeling addressed by colleagues from VU.CITY and Make Real Ltd, exploring how they can support engagement and co-design processes for 15mC. The open discussions and insights shared during the kickoff enriched the understanding of each project partner and the Urban Living Labs. Key points discussed included the importance of spatial quality alongside mobility problem solutions; the role of academia in social engagement through trust and communication meanwhile in remaining its indecency, the need for the private sector to maintain or increase property values in creating people-central 15mC; the project should set goals of having academic contributions in generating new knowledge, guidance for practitioners, and documenting processes with impact stories for the public.
